Nominations are now open for our 2020 Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award!

Every year, we recognize a woman doing excellent work at the state or local level who has a promising career in politics ahead of her.

Who do you think deserves this year's award?

Nominate a pro-choice Democratic woman serving in state or local office for the 2020 Rising Star Award.

Previous winners include Philadelphia Councilwoman Helen Gym, California state Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo, and Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx. Former Boston City Council Member (and now Congresswoman!) Ayanna Pressley, and former Georgia House Minority Leader (and 2018 candidate for Georgia governor!) Stacey Abrams have already sought higher office since winning.

This year's winner could be a city council member, mayor, or state legislator — you decide!
