You’ve seen the headlines: Last week, an intense level of smoke blanketed the northeast.

As a doctor, I know how dangerous poor air quality can be. It poses long-lasting damaging health effects for everyone. With climate change continuing at speeds faster than any scientist expected, we’re only going to experience deteriorating air quality.

Our children are going to be the ones who will have to deal with the impacts of the climate disaster we’re in right now. I want more for my three kids—and all kids—than that.

From flooding here in South Carolina to wildfires in the west, we need to take action now.

We each must do our part to enact effective climate action. The threat is real, so will you sign my petition by midnight tomorrow to demand climate action from our leaders? I need 1,000 signatures to help make the point.

Our children deserve to be able to live, learn, and play without harmful environmental toxins surrounding them.

That’s why Their Future PAC’s climate action policy is clear:

✅ We believe in the need to remove environmental toxins like neurotoxic pesticides and mercury from areas kids spend time in and push for federal regulations controlling toxic substances.

✅ We believe that our children should have access to uncontaminated natural resources. We advocate for policies that reduce pollution in our waterways, in the atmosphere, and more.

✅ We support technological development as critical to climate change mitigation, from those that implement renewable energy sources, carbon sequestration technologies, and other yet-to-be-imagined technologies.

✅ We believe that our children deserve to inherit a stable environment. We acknowledge the unique role that carbon emissions play in climate change and support policies that reduce carbon emissions on a national and international level.

✅ We recognize the role of sustainable development in ensuring the health of our environment and communities, supporting policies that encourage sustainable development.

✅ We believe children have the right to live free from environmental threats. We support the Paris Climate Accord and advocate for policies that aim to limit global temperatures from rising above 2ºC through market, technological, and legislative measures.

It is time to stop standing by and start helping in the fight for a better tomorrow. Our children deserve so much better than the planet we are passing down to them.
