A lot of people have been asking me, "What are we going to do as we approach the one-year mark of the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade ?"

My answer is simple: What we've already been doing. Our fight for reproductive freedom didn't start on June 24, 2022—this has been a decades-long fight. Roe was always the floor; it was never enough to ensure abortion care is accessible to every body.

NARAL Pro-Choice America has been in this fight for over 50 years and working here gives me the chance to hold terrible politicians accountable for the real harm that they are causing to folks who need to access abortion care. This past election we did just that, proving that abortion is a winning issue. Knowing that the majority of people are on our side and that when we come together, we can win, motivates me to keep going.

Despite our wins, we are witnessing the devastating impacts of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to rip away our constitutional right to decide what happens to our bodies each and every day.

Abortion bans cause real harm. Pregnant people are being denied care and facing life-threatening pregnancy complications. Doctors are being forced to delay care until pregnant people are at the point of nearly dying. Pregnant people and providers are facing risks of criminalization simply for seeking or providing care.

People who can't access care in their home states are forced to travel hundreds of miles, if they have the means to. Many don't.
