Also on Thursday, I sat down with KSAT to discuss the challenges our communities are facing when it comes to soaring rates of crime.
That is why I am meeting with officials from my district and in Washington to see how allocated federal dollars can reach our men and women in law enforcement.
One of the ways in which I am trying to bridge the divide is by encouraging our local officials to apply for COPS grants, through the Department of Justice. These grants serve to provide helpful resources to local law enforcement departments, and when allocated, give our communities the tools necessary to reclaim the safety of their neighborhoods.
This year, I proudly authored letters of support to supplement COPS grants applications for San Antonio, Socorro, Uvalde, Marfa, Pearsall, and Castroville Police Departments and Medina County Sheriff's Department.
These dollars can make a substantial difference in combatting crime in our communities. I will continue to fight tooth and nail for any law enforcement agency in TX-23 that applies for these funds in the future.
