Help Fair and Square flip Texas blue! [[link removed]]

This month we celebrate our Black leaders, past and present.

John -

Texas wouldn’t be Texas without the achievements, contributions, and legacy of black Texans.

From Juanita Craft to Barbara Jordan, the Buffalo Soldiers to the Texas Tuskegee airmen, Blind Lemon Jefferson to DJ Screw, the trailblazing black cowboys to the trailblazing educators at Texas’ nine HBCUs, black Texans shaped our state into what it is today.

But none of these achievements came easy. Black Texans had to fight institutionalized racism, intimidation, and violence. Since the end of Reconstruction, gerrymandering has been used in Texas to dilute the black vote.

Republicans rely on gerrymandering to maintain power, because they know their policies don’t win. The foundation of this democracy is one person, one vote. It’s on us to fight for fair maps and stop politicians from choosing their voters. Together, we will flip the Texas House blue and fight for fair maps.
