Dear  john,

I hope that you and your family are enjoying the start of summer. As the summer season gets underway, let's make sure to never forget why we celebrate Memorial Day Weekend – our fallen troops who sacrificed their lives to protect our nation. I hope that every American was able to take time to honor and remember them – not just on this past Memorial Day, but every day.

Today is the 79th anniversary of D-Day, and I hope you're able to take some time to commemorate the service and sacrifice of the brave men who stormed the beaches of Normandy. The freedoms we enjoy are built on the foundation they laid.

"The eyes of the world are upon you. The hope and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world." -Dwight Eisenhower

The Biden-McCarthy Disaster Deal

Last week was quite the week in Washington. While you were relaxing with your families over Memorial Day Weekend, a small group of uniparty negotiators stayed in Washington to finalize a swampy betrayal of the American people via their debt ceiling “deal.”

At a time when our national debt is skyrocketing and the federal government is weaponized against the average American, the Biden-McCarthy deal gives a blank check to the Biden administration, provides close to ZERO actual spending cuts, and locks in the Biden administration’s radical agenda.

TWEET: The Deal Sets Up Omnibus Spending Blowouts

Last month, Republicans united behind the Limit, Save, Grow Act – a strong bill that raised the debt ceiling responsibly while imposing $4.8 trillion in cuts on the ever-expanding federal budget and bureaucracy.

Republican negotiators held all the leverage but folded like a cheap suit. My friend Congressman Chip Roy, put together a chart showing how weak the final “deal” was:

Unfortunately, the proponents of the deal then proceeded to deny conservative concerns and threaten members who voted against the bill.

 The Disaster Deal also -

  • Locks in spending at bloated post-Covid levels.
  • Completely eliminates the debt ceiling for the remainder of the Biden presidency, removing all Republican policy and budget leverage. If that wasn’t bad enough, the bill sets the next date during the lame duck session of Congress when spending binges are most prevalent.
  • Increases the number of people on welfare, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
  • Allows the Biden administration to waive all regulatory reform requirements and prevents anyone from challenging their legality in court.
  • Claims to rescind $28 billion in unused COVID funds, but places $22 billion of that money into a slush fund at the Commerce Department.
  • Only claws back $1.4 billion out of $80 billion in IRS funding and does nothing to stop the IRS from spending the remaining $78.6 billion on hiring agents right away.
  • Dozens of Republican Members of Congress from all corners of the country, including myself and the 19 others who held out on voting for Speaker McCarthy, saw this deal for the farce it is and have strongly opposed it.

Watch my speech on the bill and why it was a defining vote for every Republican:

Biden, Democrats, and their pals in the mainstream media bragged about how they “rolled” Republicans and how the deal “locks in” Biden’s agenda.

The bill passed in the Senate and House with far more Democrat votes than Republicans. Meanwhile, establishment GOP leaders are still trying to tout the deal as a conservative win.

Frequent readers of this newsletter will be familiar with “The Week in Weaponized Government” section – this deal locks in the woke and weaponized government programs that Republicans were elected to fight against. I’ll continue to spotlight these abuses of power and do all that I can to root out this flagrant corruption.

TWEET: This is what it looks like when the uniparty cartel sells out the American people.

I’ve been heartened by the feedback from all of those who called or wrote into my office to express your frustrations with this deal.  You sent me to Washington to smash the status quo, and I will use every tool at my disposal during my time here to do just that.

For more detailed breakdowns on the problems with this deal, I recommend watching some of my media appearances from last week.

The House of Representatives returned to Washington this week, and I’ll be sure to bring you updates in my upcoming newsletter on this issue and many more. Stay tuned!

Recognizing Dr. Mike Whitson

On a happier note, and as a follow-up from a previous newsletter edition, it was my honor to welcome Pastor Mike Whitson from First Baptist Church Indian Trail to Washington on May 25th as he gave the opening prayer for the House session that day. It was my honor to host him here and to give a short speech on the House floor recognizing his 40 years of service.
