I wanted to take a moment today to welcome the start of Pride Month and celebrate the LGBTQI+ community in our district and across the country.

These are challenging times for our LGBTQI+ friends. And amidst so much hateful rhetoric, we must remember to continue uplifting them by standing up to discriminatory legislation.

As a Vice Chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus, I am working every day to ensure the rights of the LGBTQI+ community are protected. LGBTQI+ people deserve to live freely as their authentic selves and deserve full legal equality in the U.S. and around the world.

This month, I invite you to recommit to the fight for LGBTQI+ rights and work to enshrine equal rights for the LGBTQI+ community into law.
