This weekend, NARAL and our partners hosted 8 presidential candidates at a forum about the courts — and why they matter so much to our reproductive freedom. Here’s what they had to say:'I don't think there's any compromise on our side in terms of women's access to reproductive health and rights.' -Senator Michael Bennet. 'When I talk about freedom, I’m talking about an understanding of freedom that the government ought to get out of the business of dictating to women what their healthcare decisions should be.' -Mayor Pete Buttigieg.'For a lot of people, when they start hearing about people taking their contraceptives away, this completely, in their mind, changes their life. It violates their rights.' -Senator Amy Klobuchar. 'I wouldn’t want the government to be able to intrude in the most intimate kind of decisions I’m trying to make with my medical professional.' -Deval Patrick, Former Massachusetts Governor. 'It is women who have the right to control their own bodies, not the government.' -Senator Bernie Sanders. 'This is a critical part of women being equal citizens. The Supreme Court is our ultimate bastion.' -Tom Steyer. '3 out of 4 Americans support the rule of Roe v. Wade. They want it to be the law. In a democracy, when 3 out of 4 people want to see something be the law, then it’s time for us to mobilize and make it the law.' -Senator Elizabeth Warren. 'We're talking about women's reproductive rights here, to me, one of the most fundamental freedoms there is. We need to be able to fight at every level and use everything in the book to fight for our values too.' -Andrew Yang.
