Here are some mental health resources that you may find helpful. Exactly one year ago, a gunman killed 19 children and two adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Since that tragic day, we slowly learned more details about the horrifying failures that cost so many children and their caregivers their lives, including our flawed laws that make it far too easy to purchase firearms. Instead of waiting for politicians to act, young people across the country jumped into action and organized hundreds of marches across the country to honor the victims’ lives and demand gun safety action. Tens of thousands of us took to the streets in over 400 cities with a unified demand for Congress to break the cycle of gun violence plaguing our communities. After all, it could’ve been any one of us. As a result, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle came together for the first time in nearly three decades to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act — groundbreaking legislation that included lifesaving measures such as investments in mental health services and school safety funding. It was a monumental moment for our movement. But our fight is far from over. Until we live in a nation that puts our lives, including children’s lives, ahead of gun lobby profits, our fight must continue.
