Hi John,

Have you seen our massive climate change announcement?

Prime Minister Chris Hipkins and Energy Minister Megan Woods have announced that we're delivering New Zealand's largest emissions reduction project to date!

The installation of a clean Electric Arc Furnace at NZ Steel's Glenbrook site will remove a huge 1% of New Zealand’s annual emissions in one go — that’s the same as taking all the cars in Christchurch off the road.

The project means New Zealand businesses will have access to locally produced, cleaner steel, and we'll protect high-value jobs that otherwise might have gone offshore.

This demonstrates how transitioning to a low-emissions economy can be great for the climate and a win for minimising waste, retaining jobs, and improving New Zealand's economic resilience.

The project dwarfs anything we’ve done to date. It will eliminate 1% of the country's total annual emissions – and it would only happen with government support.

We know that we need to take meaningful action on climate change now to protect our environment for future generations. This investment shows how serious we are about reducing New Zealand’s emissions and making an impact in partnership with businesses.

Unsurprisingly, Negative National and their Coalition of Cuts have said they'll scrap this project. One thing is clear: you can’t trust National on climate change.

Show your support for this project and the action we're taking on climate change by sharing this fantastic news with your friends today.
