Throughout May, we’re celebrating Jewish American Heritage Month.
This is an opportunity to honor the heritage of Jewish Americans, to celebrate the contributions that Jewish Americans have made to communities here in Rhode Island and across the nation, and to recommit to the fight against antisemitism here at home and around the world.
It is our shared responsibility to fight back against antisemitism, bigotry, and hate in all its forms and whenever it rears its ugly head, especially as acts of antisemitism are on the rise in communities across America.
Just last weekend, a far-right, antisemitic group of extremists marched along the National Mall in Washington, DC. The group, Patriot Front, is one of the largest distributors of antisemitic propaganda in America. Their actions are despicable and we must rise up against them at every opportunity.
This must be a reminder that our work to create a more perfect union where every American, regardless of background or religious views, can live equally, openly, and without fear of retribution is still unfinished —
but is always possible.
