This week, in just 48 hours, two major news networks threatened our First Amendment rights by sending police to move our ad trucks from outside their news headquarters. 

Why? CNN and Fox were holding meetings with some of their most important advertisers and were terrified that they would listen to us calling out the networks for being Brand Unsafe. 

As a dedicated member of our pro-democracy movement, I want to explain to you exactly why we have to treat CNN like Fox. The reason why we’re calling CNN the Trump News Network. And why we’re not going to stop telling their advertisers to stop sponsoring these Brand Unsafe networks. 

The simple reason is this. The mainstream media is bad at this. 

CNN saw their ratings under Trump and their ratings under Biden. So they decided to bring back the Trump show and give the serial liar 90 minutes to attract viewers and hold a pseudo- campaign rally. In doing so, CNN became the Trump News Network. 

Yes, Friend, while the rest of us see an anti-democratic apocalypse if Trump takes back The White House, the executives at TNN just see a big pile of gold at the end of the authoritarian rainbow. They’re already propping up Trump just like in 2016. That’s why we need to join together to defeat them >> 

We know that Fox is still the ultimate Trump den. We know that they’re still a 24-hour alternate reality that serves as the rhetorical foundation for everything that is extremist and MAGA.

But TNN is willing to trade ratings for the downfall of our Republic. That simple truth is why we’re going to keep treating that network just like we treat Fox. 

It’s why we’re going to keep taking chunks out of their pocketbook by hitting their advertisers. And it’s why we’re never going to stop until Trump and everything he stands for are banished from our politics for good.  

What does that all mean for the work you’re doing in our pro-democracy movement? 

First, it means turn off TNN and tell everyone you know to turn off TNN. Viewership of any kind helps their bottom line. 

Then, it means that we need to be clear-eyed in our understanding that this fight isn’t just against Trump and his army of MAGA-die-hards. It’s against every corporate interest that stands to financially benefit from his return to The White House. We’re going to need all the help possible in that fight.
