John, can you believe this? Here's how GOP lawmakers in North Carolina were able to enact an extreme and dangerous ban on abortion—despite the state's governor vetoing it.

• A state representative—who campaigned on the right to abortion—switched her party affiliation from Democrat to Republican after being elected. She went from being a supporter of reproductive freedom to voting for this ban. That's the cost of being a part of the modern day GOP.
• AND three other GOP lawmakers pulled a similar bait and switch—promising that they wouldn’t support further restrictions on abortion, and then doing it anyway.

The truth is Republicans' nationwide push for abortion bans is wildly out of touch with the will of the people they were elected to represent, and they know it. That's why they lie about abortion rights on the campaign trail—then go back on their word once they're in office.
