Governor Josh Green believes that everyone in Hawaii should have access to quality, affordable healthcare.

That’s why this month Governor Green announced that Hawaii will be the first state in the nation to create a universal loan repayment program for medical professionals who commit to serving in our islands.[[link removed]]

We will dedicate $30 million over the next two years to the Hawaii Health Corps to attract and retain doctors, nurses, and social workers across our state so we can expand access to care, reduce health disparities, and address our healthcare shortage.

Governor Green has also taken action to improve healthcare for the 450,000 Hawaii residents currently on Medicaid by dedicating $73 million per year in state and federal funds to raising Medicaid rates.

Finally, we will invest $128 million in improvements to our rural and neighbor island hospitals on the Big Island, Maui, and Kauai, and $14 million for Hawaii’s nursing facilities and Family Assessment Centers to extend healthcare access to our keiki and kupuna.

In his first six months in office, Governor Green has already put plans like these into action to strengthen Hawaii’s healthcare system, increase access to care, and reduce health disparities across our state.

We will continue to keep you updated in the coming weeks and months on our progress on healthcare and other important issues like housing, homelessness, and the environment.

Friend, thanks again for being a part of Team Green.

Mahalo,

Team Green
