Democrats,
In case you haven’t heard yet, House Republicans recently proposed the “Default on America Act” in an attempt to hold the nation’s full faith and credit hostage, which will catastrophically hurt veterans, raise costs for hardworking families, and drastically slow our economic growth. This bill would cut funding for veterans’ health care, Meals on Wheels, public safety programs, health care for millions of Americans, and outsource manufacturing jobs overseas. The Default on America Act would increase the likelihood of a recession and result in almost 800,000 American jobs lost.
The GOP clearly has no issue playing with Americans’ health, livelihoods, and financial well-being if it means they can advance their own political power. Contribute today to make sure that we don’t elect politicians who view our lives as a game they can play with for their own advantage. [[link removed]] The aptly-named Default on America Act would really live up to its name, since the GOP is failing to deliver what Americans truly want and need. It is imperative we elect folks who are dedicated to making Americans’ lives better , not worse.

New Mexico would suffer greatly from this atrocious GOP-sponsored bill. The Default on America Act would result in a direct loss of at least $410 million in federal grant funds invested in New Mexico.
To put that into context, this would jeopardize transportation safety and infrastructure, raise costs for families, especially those with children, harm seniors and veterans, endanger health care coverage and access, undermine education and job training, harming children and students, and more. Approximately 60,600 veterans could lose access to outpatient care , barring them from accessing mental health visits, wellness visits, and substance disorder treatments. Additionally, this bill would gut about $31 million in funding for low-income students in New Mexico alone– with effects equivalent to firing nearly 500 teachers, impacting an estimated 250,000 students across the state. This bill would also significantly worsen wait times for New Mexico seniors to access Social Security and Medicare assistance, which means anyone applying for disability benefits would have to wait at least 2 months for a decision.
The fate of New Mexico lies with those we elect, and if we fall short of our fundraising goals, New Mexico could fall in the wrong hands. Contribute to DPNM today to do your part in electing Democrats to office. [[link removed]]
