John- The Durham report released yesterday confirms what we already knew: the “Russia collusion” investigation and everything that followed was complete and utter BS. Political hacks like Lisa Page, Peter Strzok, John Brennan, and others exposed in this report ignored protocol to pursue a faux Russian collusion narrative, all for the purpose of taking down President Trump. They are responsible for irreparable harm to this country along with core institutions like the FBI and they should be held accountable. Here are the key excerpts from the report: Durham writes: “Based on the review of Crossfire Hurricane and related intelligence activities, we conclude that the [Justice] Department and FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law in connection with certain events and activities described in this report.” This is a pretty huge admission. Crossfire Hurricane was the codename for the investigation into supposed ties between Trump and Russian officials to allegedly “interfere” in the 2016 election. The report goes on: “FBI records prepared by [Peter] Strzok in February and March 2017 show that at the time of the opening of Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI had no information in its holdings indicating that at any time during the campaign anyone in the Trump campaign had been in contact with any Russian intelligence officials.” So, the case was opened against a presidential candidate despite no factual evidence. Durham slammed FBI leaders for a “serious lack of analytical rigor” and for depending on “investigative leads provided or funded (directly or indirectly) by Trump’s political opponents.” He’s talking about Hillary Clinton, who paid for the bogus Steele dossier which fueled this entire witch hunt. As the Washington Examiner reports, “The report found that ‘upon receipt of unevaluated intelligence information from Australia, the FBI swiftly opened the Crossfire Hurricane investigation’ and that at the direction of since-fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, since-fired Deputy Assistant Director for Counterintelligence Peter Strzok ‘opened Crossfire Hurricane immediately.’ Durham noted that ‘Strzok, at a minimum, had pronounced hostile feelings toward Trump.’” Durham writes that if the FBI followed protocol and undertook very basic investigatory steps (like interviewing witnesses essential to the raw intelligence), it “would have learned that their own experienced Russia analysts had no information about Trump being involved with Russian leadership officials, nor were others in sensitive positions at the CIA, the NSA, and the Department of State aware of such evidence concerning the subject.” This report (nearly four years in the making) highlights what was obvious to all of us. Millions of taxpayer dollars were wasted investigating lies. It’s beyond infuriating that a few rogue political actors within the FBI and Justice Department have destroyed the institution’s credibility with the American people. It will take years to regain the trust of our citizens. More disturbing – this report demonstrates how unelected, subversive actors within the highest levels of our government sought to destroy a duly-elected president they hated. They weaponized a lie – knowing the media would breathlessly regurgitate that lie – in order to take Donald Trump out of the White House. There must be consequences for this.
