Homestead Exemptions Provide More Relief Than Appraisal Caps

Homestead Expemptions [[link removed]]

As I've said, years ago it seemed appraisal caps were a good idea, but I learned better. Speaker Dade Phelan still hasn't. Compared to the House plan, the Senate plan delivers $27 BILLION MORE in property tax savings to Texas homeowners over the life of their ownership. I want to say that again… $27 BILLION MORE in the pockets of homeowners.

Priority Property Tax Relief for Homeowners:

✔ House plan annually saves $542 for all homeowners.

✔ Senate plan annually saves $1,296 for all senior homeowners and $898 for all other homeowners.

✔ Senate plan is permanent. House plan is not.

Op-Ed: Homestead Exemption is Real Tax Relief

Tax Relief [[link removed]][link removed]

As lieutenant governor, I will not negotiate on taking $27 billion of tax cuts away from homeowners. The Senate’s plan is supported by Texas Realtors, business associations, tax experts and former President Donald Trump. They support the Texas Senate’s property tax relief plan because they know real tax relief when they see it. Click here to read my op-ed [[link removed]] in The Dallas Morning News.

Biden is DESTROYING our Country

The Biden administration's reckless policies have led to an unprecedented amount of illegal immigrants, human trafficking, drug smuggling, and increased crime in our communities. Sadly, things are just getting worse.

Here in Texas, we are doing everything in our power to secure the border and protect the safety and security of our state. I joined Brian Kilmeade on his radio program Wednesday morning to talk about this and more. Click here to listen [[link removed]].

Honoring our Texas heroes from WWII

WWII Veterans [[link removed]]

We recognize many people and groups on the Senate floor. They are all wonderful. But Thursday was very special as we honored our Texas heroes from WWII. They were between 95 and 102 years of age. They joined like my dad did at 16 and 17 years old, even if they were under age at the time. These men are true heroes from America's Greatest Generation. It was such an honor to meet each of them.

HPD Annual Memorial Service to Honor Fallen Police Officers

I attended the annual Houston Police Memorial Service for fallen officers last Friday. They have lost 121 officers since 1860. Each name and year is called and a cadet or officer represents each of them. It is a very moving service. It is interesting to me that only four were killed between 1860 and 1899, and none were killed during the war from 1940 to 1944.

Celebrating Senator Judith Zaffirini’s 70,000th Consecutive Senate Vote

I had the honor to present a gavel to Senator Judith Zaffirini for her 70,000th consecutive Senate vote. She has not missed a single vote since 1987. That's absolutely amazing.

Thank you all for your support and everything you do to keep Texas red. May God bless you and your family, and may He continue to bless the greatest state of all—Texas.

Sincerely,
