Friends,

This week, I spoke at an Energy and Commerce Committee hearing on how the EPA's policies and regulations kneecap domestic energy production. EPA is requesting a 19.2% increase in their budget while at the same time proposing endless regulations that will hurt American consumers, and I made it a point to show the real costs of EPA policies to Americans.

I also spoke at two other committee hearings on responding to future public health security threats, and how our reliance on foreign countries for lifesaving drugs causes shortages in the supply chain.

Sincerely,

Title 42 Ended, and Migrants Are Flooding The Border

Image

I joined Fox News to discuss the ending of Title 42 and the surge of immigrants at the border. The Biden Administration had plenty of time to plan for Title 42 to end, but they let the clock run out. The administration's new asylum plan is trying to patch the cracks in a dam after it's already burst. Too little, too late.

Unreal: CDC Has No Plan For The Health Crisis At The Border

Image

The head of the CDC, Rochelle Walensky, basically admitted here that the agency has NO plan to deal with the potential public health threats of thousands of illegals crossing into our country. That’s concerning for a multitude of reasons, especially the fact that they had months to plan for this. When you have people coming from all different countries - Mexico, Guatemala, China, Venezuela, Nicaragua (the list goes on) you can be sure there’s a possibility of diseases being brought over our border. We’re finally past the COVID-19 pandemic, but the CDC has no plan to stop the next potentially catastrophic outbreak of disease from affecting border communities and the American public. Our agencies must be coordinating to prevent harm to our citizens—that’s a very basic expectation.

The U.S. Should Be Producing More Natural Gas, Not Less. Here's Why

Image

The false narrative that reducing emissions correlates with reducing natural gas is simply not true. In fact the opposite is true: U.S. natural gas has done more to reduce emissions than wind and solar combined. Affordable and reliable natural gas displacing foreign coal is key to tackling global emissions. Unfortunately, the EPA is actively pursuing regulations that would result in higher energy prices, less energy security, and decreased grid stability. Biden Administration policies like the methane tax will raise electricity costs for Americans and put additional strain on an already fragile electricity grid. Biden’s EPA is waging war on the production, transportation, and the use of clean natural gas here in the U.S. I voiced my opposition to these tactics this week during a hearing with the head of the EPA. It’s really this simple: if you really want to save the environment, encourage American energy production. Don’t kneecap it.

Your Tax Dollars Are Funding The American Obesity EpidemicImage

On my recent podcast with Calley Means, we discussed how the federal government is paying soda and junk food companies billions of dollars every year through the Supplemental Nutrition Access Program (aka SNAP or "food stamps"). Citizens enrolled in the SNAP program are currently allowed to use their subsidies to buy the kind of garbage food that's leading to unprecedented rates obesity, diabetes, and other chronic health conditions in Americans. Of course, this also contributes greatly to the skyrocketing costs of our health care system. Thankfully my Senate colleague Sen. Marco Rubio just introduced a bill that would exclude all soda and prepared desserts from coverage in the SNAP program. As Sen. Rubio says, "Though SNAP is meant to supplement nutrition, more than 20% of all program spending goes to unhealthy food and drink. Taxpayers are projected to spend $240 billion on junk food, with more than $60 billion going exclusively to soda, over the next decade." This is a no-brainer: the federal government should not be sending hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to soda and junk food companies to subsidize the American obesity epidemic. I challenge any of my Democratic colleagues to come up with a coherent rebuttal opposing that statement. Click and swipe to read Sen. Rubio's full op-ed detailing his new bill. The stats he shares will shock you.

Fox News Radio: ‘It’s Been A Mess Ever Since Biden Took Office’: Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) Rips Biden Admin Over Border Handling Ahead Of Title 42 Expiring

Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) joined the Guy Benson Show to discuss the GOP border bill, title 42 expiring, and negotiations surrounding the debt limit. Congressman Crenshaw reacted to the crisis at the southern border saying, “There’s no mystery about what’s going on at the border. I don’t think there’s different accounts depending on who you talk to. It’s still a complete mess. It’s been a mess ever since Biden took office. The problem at the border continues to be a very, very simple one. There is an incentive to cross the border because people believe that if they cross the border, they won’t be turned back. They won’t be deported back.”

The Hill: GOP leaders make last-minute changes to border bill after floor delay

Rep. Dan Crenshaw sounded the alarm about opposition to the cartel terrorist organization portion…the bill was amended to leave to Congress the responsibility for commissioning a report evaluating a national security strategy…when it comes to cartels.
