John,

This week, I want us to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible work and dedication of our nurses, both in Delaware and throughout the United States. This is a special week to recognize the tireless work and dedication of our nurses, those who play an essential role in providing care and support to individuals and families across our communities.
Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system, and their work is critical in the lives of residents through every stage of life. Their dedication to the public sector is admirable, and as State Treasurer who works for the wellbeing of Delaware residents, I look up to them.

This week, we celebrate the contributions of nurses throughout our state, who go above and beyond to provide quality care to patients every day. I am deeply grateful for the hard work and dedication of our nurses, and I know that Delaware would not be the same without their contributions.

John, I share a deep appreciation for the work of nurses because I have firsthand experience working in healthcare. Prior to becoming State Treasurer, I managed finances for large health care systems and I was a practicing Physician Assistant in Neurosurgery.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I returned to healthcare as part of the response team, assisting those in need. Reflecting on my professional experience, I recognize the importance of compassion in the medical field, and I try to bring that same compassion to my service to the people of Delaware as their Treasurer.

Because of my experience in the healthcare field, it is very important for me that our healthcare workers are protected financially, and are prepared for their future.

For this, I want to remind you of the different plans that are available to all residents of Delaware—including current nurses and those on the path to become a nurse—of the various programs available to help them plan and achieve their financial goals:

1️⃣ The Education Savings Plan
2️⃣ The Delaware EARNS program
3️⃣ DEFER Savings plan

⬆️ These are just some of the programs to help individuals and families plan for a more stable financial future.

Once again, I want to thank our nurses for their hard work, dedication, and compassion. Your contributions are truly appreciated, and your work is an inspiration to us all.

John, I believe we both share the same admiration towards nurses in Delaware. Please consider adding your name to this petition to increase the available savings programs in our state that protect the financial future of our healthcare workers.

In service,
Treasurer Colleen Davis
