Weekly Script May 7th, 2023 WEEKLY SC℞IPT Visit My Website 20 County Tour Talking to people at home is the best way to understand what's really important to Iowans. Speaking to residents of the First District allows me to stay informed of what is going on in their communities and what I can do to help. It was a pleasure to join veterans in Keosauqua this week for breakfast. As a veteran and chair of the House Veterans Affairs Health Subcommittee, I will always fight to protect and improve services and benefits for our veterans. I appreciate Mayor Matson meeting with me this week to provide an update on the Mississippi River flooding in Davenport. I’m grateful our leaders at the state and federal level have come together to address this ongoing issue. I stopped by the Bayer facility in Muscatine this week to learn more about the amazing work they're doing to support our agricultural economy in Iowa. I enjoyed stopping by Sigourney this week to get an update from Mayor Morlan on the issues facing their community. I’m committed to ensuring Southeast Iowa’s voice is heard in Washington. It’s always great to stop by the Iowa State Capitol! I had a great time catching up with old friends and colleagues. It was a pleasure to visit Pella Windows & Doors this week, which employs over 2,000 Iowans at the Pella location and over 10,000 people nationwide. We’re fortunate to have such an innovative company headquartered in Southeast Iowa! I really enjoyed touring Silgan Containers in Burlington, which manufactures 5.5 million metal cans per day for over 50 different products. I had a great time in Mount Pleasant honoring small businesses in the community! Small businesses are the backbone of our economy in Iowa, and I will always fight to protect and support them. In The News I joined the Saturday Agenda on Newsmax to talk about President Biden's false narrative that Republicans cut veterans' benefits in the Limit, Save, Grow Act. This rhetoric is dangerous, and I was glad to set the record straight. Watch the full interview HERE.
