NBWA releases Beer Purchasers’ Index for January 2020

The total beer index for January 2020 recorded the highest January reading during the six years of the survey. The index rose to 66 from 55 in January 2019. Additionally, the “at-risk inventory” index for the total beer index dropped to 43 and has remained below the 50-mark for the past eight months. Together these results indicate a strong start to 2020 for the U.S. beer industry.

Drinks International has released its list of the 10 most popular beers of 2019. With almost 20 percent of the bars reporting the Dutch giant as their bestselling beer, Heineken was the runaway favorite in 2019. Asahi Super Dry, Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Guinness, and Corona round out the top five. See the whole top 10 list here.

AAA reports lower gas prices to start the year

The national gas price average is $2.47, which is four cents cheaper than last week and 11 cents cheaper than the beginning of the year. Motorists are paying less to fill up especially as crude oil prices are less expensive. Motorists in at least a dozen states, mostly in the South and Southeast, can find gas for less than $2/gallon.

But, weed deliveries aren’t allowed under the current law, though lawmakers say they are considering it. “The industry is going to blur the line between legal and illegal,” said Andy Seeger, an analyst at the Brightfield Group, a Loop-based firm that researches the cannabis industry. “We’re going to see people trying to get away with what they can.
