Dear John,
Yesterday, U.S. Congressman Stauber ratcheted up his attacks on the Boundary Waters by introducing a bill to REVERSE the Biden Administration’s protective 20-year mining ban in the watershed of the Boundary Waters.
This comes on the heels of Rep. Stauber's field hearing in Mountain Iron, Minnesota earlier this week where one of his hand-picked witnesses testified saying they should open up mining within the Boundary Waters itself.
This legislation a blatant and dangerous attack on the Wilderness . Not only would this bill undo the historic, scientific, legally sound, and widely popular 20-year mining ban in the watershed of the Boundary Waters, but it would also give mining leases back to international mining companies, shortcut environmental review of mine plans and remove the ability to challenge any bad decisions in court, setting a very dangerous precedent for all of our nation’s cherished places.

We cannot let this stand. The Boundary Waters needs you to step up and defend it today. Can you take a moment to send a note to your Congressperson asking them to reject this dangerous, anti-Boundary Waters legislation?
Moreover, tell your Representative to support Rep. McCollum’s HR 668 which would permanently protect the Boundary Waters from efforts to destroy America’s canoe country for the sake of international mining profits.
The Boundary Waters is more precious than copper and we need to protect it for all generations to come. Please take action for this special place and send a note to your Congressperson now. Take action here >> [[link removed]]
