Happy Rhode Island Independence Day!

On this day in 1776, two months before the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Rhode Island declared itself independent of Britain — the first of the original 13 colonies to formally cut ties.

I’m honored to represent Rhode Islanders in Congress. Together, we’re building a stronger Rhode Island for future generations, so every person in our state has access to a middle-class life, the security of a dignified retirement plan, and a safe and healthy planet.
