In tonight’s State of the Union address, President Trump gave himself credit for recent paid leave progress.
To be clear: WOMEN have been LEADING the fight for paid family and medical leave for DECADES. Meanwhile, Trump has been attacking women and families for three straight years while advancing racist, sexist, xenophobic and anti-LGBTQ policies.
A bigger man — a better, smarter, more confident man — would have called out the real champions in the room with him tonight who worked alongside us and fought tirelessly to secure the recent paid leave victory for federal workers.
Because he didn’t (and isn’t), you and I will.
Help us set the record straight by sending a thank you note to the REAL champions of paid leave, and we sure as hell don’t mean Donald J. Trump.
