Dear Jack,

Last year, State Auditor Shad White released a report highlighting the high crime rate in Jackson.

It found that every homicide in the southeastern United States costs taxpayers roughly $900,000 to $1.2 million. Based on these statistics, this means Mississippi spent between $136.8 and $182.4 million dollars alone on homicides in our capital city in 2021.

Shad White will be speaking next Thursday, May 4, on ways he believes our state can lower these crime rates and save taxpayer money.

White will be joined by best-selling author Rafael Mangual, who makes the case that more policing leads to less crime. Tickets can be found here ([link removed]) .

Each ticket comes with a copy of Mangual's book, "Criminal (In)Justice." You don't want to miss out!
