FL-27 Newsletter Vol. 118, Issue #17 Dear Friends/Amigos, This week, I was in Washington advocating on behalf of District 27 and the liberties we value most. The Biden Administration continues its relentless war on civil and economic liberties, both here and abroad. Friends of the Castro-Maduro-Ortega evil axis are gaining power, and the President chose to turn a blind eye while engaging in the culture wars. Read more below for how I am advocating on behalf of freedom and sanity in District 27 and the Western Hemisphere! It is an honor to serve you in Congress, and please continue to call my office or visit my website to share your thoughts with me. As always, I invite you to connect with me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, to get the latest from Washington and from across our district. Sincerely/Atentamente, Maria Elvira Salazar U.S. Representative (FL-27) I INTRODUCED THE REJECT LATINX ACT! This week, I introduced H.R. 2906, or the Reject Latinx Act! In order to appease the socialists and neo-Marxists in Washington, the Biden Administration publishes official communications referring to the Hispanic and Latino community as 'Latinx.' This is absurd! I am a proud Latina, and I know that the Latino community flatly rejects this offensive word. More than 75% of us have never even heard of the word, and of those who do, only 2% use it! This is just another progressive imposition on our community, and this bill forbids the Administration from addressing us in this way. It destroys our beautiful language and implies we accept their woke delusions as dogma. Enough! Read the full press release on the bill here. Para el comunicado de prensa en español, haga clic aquí. I CALLED OUT PRESIDENT PETRO FOR EXPELLING VENEZUELAN OPPOSITION LEADER JUAN GUAIDÓ! Earlier this week, President Petro of Colombia showed his true colors by expelling Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó from the country merely hours after arriving as a refugee. Make no mistake: Petro is a Marxist sympathizer who intends to reshape Colombia as an ally of the Maduro regime in Venezuela! Guaidó was deported to Miami, and I have already sent a letter to President Biden requesting that he and his family be given asylum for their safety. Rest assured that as Chairwoman of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee, I will use my platform to continue denouncing Petro's embrace of socialism and fight for the liberties of our Latin American neighbors! Watch my remarks on Guaidó's expulsion from Colombia here. Vea mi declaración sobre la expulsión de Juan Guaidó de Colombia aquí. I GOT THE BIDEN STATE DEPARTMENT TO RESCIND THEIR UNJUSTIFIED TRAVEL ALERT ON THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC! The Biden State Department FINALLY removed the unjust travel alert against the Dominican Republic after my colleague Rep. Adriano Espaillat and I pressured them to provide evidence of racism against African Americans! When I asked Secretary Blinken at a hearing to provide the evidence for these accusations, he could not give me a straight answer. The Dominican Republic is a critical partner of the United States, and we should not be treating our partners with contempt like the Biden Administration chose to do with its travel alert. ¡Siempre con nuestros hermanos dominicanos!
