Ask your Member of Congress to lend their full support to the No Ban Act today.

Dear John,

On Friday, the Trump administration announced that it is expanding its travel ban to include six new countries: Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sudan, and Tanzania.

Ask your Member of Congress to speak out against the new travel ban.

This new travel ban can be traced back directly to the administration’s first Muslim and refugee bans. It is an extension of a policy of hatred and fear of the “other”. What started out three years ago as a “mostly Muslim” ban is turning into something just as ugly: xenophobia, forced family separation, and stopping people – especially those escaping volatile situations in Eritrea, Myanmar, and Sudan – from coming to safety in the U.S.

It is time to ask Congress to speak out. The No Ban Act is important legistation that would repeal all versions of the Muslim, refugee and asylum bans and amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to prohibit immigration policies that discriminate based on religion. Additionally, it would limit the broad executive authority that allowed the refugee and asylum bans by implementing stricter implementation requirements and greater congressional oversight.

The administration has instituted numerous policies based on hatred and fear of the “other” in blatant attempts to curtail legal immigration to the United States. HIAS has taken a strong stance against these discriminatory policies from the very start, and we’ve seen their devastating impacts. We cannot back down now.

Ask your Member of Congress to lend their full support to the No Ban Act today.

Thank you for taking action,

Naomi Steinberg
