Hi John,
It’s abundantly clear that the fight for abortion access has become the fight of our generation — and the battleground is in our state legislatures.
After signing a 15-week abortion ban last year, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a new bill to ban abortion at 6 weeks. That is
before most women know they are pregnant.
Earlier this month, the governor of Idaho signed a ban on 'abortion trafficking,' making it illegal to either obtain abortion pills for a minor or to help them leave the state for an abortion without their parents’ knowledge and consent. Anyone convicted will face up to five years in prison and could also be sued by the minor’s parent or guardian.
The overturning of Roe wasn't the end, it was just the beginning.
Everything these governors are signing started in state legislatures. That's why we're investing IN A MASSIVE WAY — including in the reddest of red states — in electing diverse young progressives fiercely committed to protecting the fundamental right to abortion access.
We're investing in places where we have the toughest battles ahead – and we’ll need you in the fight. Because what happens in red states never stays in red states, and the people who live in them deserve pro-choice representation at all levels.
People need abortions in Idaho as much as they do in Vermont. Chip in

It was Run for Something alum
Laurie Pohutsky's legislation that eliminated Michigan's nearly 100-year-old ban on abortion after it was signed into law by Governor Whitmer earlier this month. The bill was passed in the House and Senate by Democrats who had just a two-seat majority in each chamber.
In Iowa, Democrats led by
Rep. Lindsay James are pushing to make birth control available without a prescription.
Florida state representative and RFS alum
Anna Eskamani did everything in her power to fight back against DeSantis's abortion ban. She and other FL democrats tried to weigh the bill down with as many amendments as they could (54!), including one to call it the "Forced Pregnancy Act." She gained national attention in the process, and shone a light on what her Republican colleagues tried to do in the dark.
To top it all off, we've recently had a record-breaking amount of people sign up to run for office, with over half of the folks signing up coming from red states.
It's clear we're not going to let a few extremists — whether on the Supreme Court or in a state legislature — have the final word on what we're allowed to do with our bodies. We're going to keep fighting everywhere,
even
especially…. in places with the toughest fights ahead.
