I want to thank all the people who came out to our "Spring Into a New Career" hiring event at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library earlier this week. Our teams had the opportunity to talk with more than 2,000 people about hundreds of career opportunities in DC Government.?

Curbside Composting Pilot Program
Curbside Composting

This summer, the Department of Public Works will launch the Curbside Composting Pilot Program, which will provide curbside food waste collection to 12,000 single-family households for one year.

Interested households must sign up to participate in the Curbside Composting Pilot Program. Up to 1,500 households within each ward will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.?*Sign-ups will open on Saturday, April 22 at 9:00 a.m.*

Early Bird Hype

Calling all DC residents ages 55 and older! Each Wednesday afternoon through May 24, DPR is bringing the HYPE to a different recreation center! Come out and experience music, line dancing, fitness demos, arts and crafts, giveaways, and more.

* May 3: Lamond Recreation Center
* May 10: Chevy Chase Community Center
* May 17: King-Greenleaf Recreation Center
* May 24: Columbia Heights Community Center

National Second Chance Town Hall
National Second Chance Town Hall

On Monday, April 24, the DC Public Library and REFORM Alliance are hosting the National Second Chance Town Hall to help build understanding for the challenges returning citizens face and the solutions that can help people successfully reintegrate after incarceration.?

The event, which will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, will include a pre-reception, a chance to connect with local community members, and an opportunity to exchange ideas on how to better support returning citizens. The main program will begin at 6:30 p.m.
