Friend, this week I was honored to receive the endorsement of the Working Families Party -- a leading national progressive group dedicated to electing people who understand what working people in this country face, and who will deliver results for working families.
It means a lot to have the support of a group that has also endorsed incredible progressives like Elizabeth Warren, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Ayanna Pressley. It’s humbling to be in the company of such accomplished and visionary fighters for justice, and I am extraordinarily grateful to every single one of the thousands of people who have stepped up to get behind our campaign.
In order to create the future we want to see for our country -- where one job is enough, where we’ve got world-class schools, paid family leave, and where every single person has healthcare and can be well enough to live to their full potential -- it is critical that we unrig our economy. But Congress is focused on the wrong things, namely, protecting and rewarding gigantic corporations.
I’m a working person. My mom was a public school teacher and cleaned houses to make extra money. I was born poor, grew up working class, was pregnant at 17, briefly homeless, and relied on Medicaid for prenatal care before putting myself through college and law school. And Texas needs Congressional leaders who will show up, work hard, and focus on the priorities of people, not corporations.
I’m going to keep fighting as hard as I can for the people of TX-25.
