Friend,
Fox News settled to the tune of
nearly $800 million. Yep, that was the price Murdoch was willing to
pay to keep his gaggle of liars off of the deposition stand and firmly
sealed inside their misinformation bubble.
I’m as disappointed as you are that
we didn’t get a trial, and Fox didn’t get publicly crucified for
sowing one of the most dangerous lies in American history.
But I need you to understand this: Fox didn’t get away with
anything. The Lincoln Project and the pro-democracy army we built are
still going to go after Fox with everything we’ve got.
We
have to pick up the mantle. We have to continue the fight. Support the
work we’re doing here at The Lincoln Project.
First and foremost, that means
continuing to drop our truth bombs behind enemy lines and right into
the gears of the misinformation machine at Fox.
Case and point with our ad “Fox
Knew.” Way before the Dominion lawsuit went to court, we called
out the fact that Fox knew they were making up bogus claims about
election fraud.
And when we got word that our
targeted ads were getting play time inside the walls of the Fox HQ, it
was clear that we were making up ground in this fight.
Now, we’re not expecting Tucker
Carlson to sing our song on Fox tonight (he’s too busy going down
weird alt-right rabbit holes with Elon Musk in his 35-part interview
series anyway).
But it’s about continuing to hit
them hard and never giving up the message war. People inside Fox have
flipped before. And as long as we continue to launch truth bombs, we
can continue to put that “news” network on the defensive.
I can make the exact same point
with Trump and his legal troubles too (emphasis on the plural here in
troubles).
Trump’s presidential campaign isn’t
going to end in the court system. It’s going to end when we defeat him
again at the ballot box.
So, Friend, don’t despair over the
Dominion settlement. Just understand that you and every pro-democracy
American are the only antidotes to Trump and Fox.
We’re going to keep up our campaign against Fox and then
we’re going to banish Trump from our politics for good.
The courts won’t do the job. It’s
up to the work we do together. And I’d appreciate it if you could help
sustain that work today.
