** NORTHVILLIANS,
------------------------------------------------------------

This week, the Northville Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual State of the Community address at Schoolcraft CollEge. We truly have a unique relationship with all three local entities (City of Northville, The Township and the School District) coming together for the betterment of the community to review our “Way Forward” plans. We are truly fortunate to have this close and active partnership, and because of it, we are accomplishing so much together for all Northvillians. This week I will touch on some of the high points of our State of the Community presentation.

State of the Community
We are fortunate in the Northville Community to have a strong relationship and bond between the Township and the School Board, along with having over 6% of our citizens involved with task forces, committees and boards engaging on futuring for the community we love.

Here's a brief summary of our continued WAY FORWARD PATH...
We Will Continue to Bolster Our Strengths
* Businesses – Shops, Restaurants and Neighborhoods
* Greenspaces – Rivers, Hills and Parks
* Schools – Our Top-Ranked school system

Community Cooperation & Involvement at an All-Time High
Our Citizens have Volunteered Time, Expertise and Hours of Hard Work to support the following:
* Riverwalk & Rouge Restoration Planning and Activities
* Planning the Farmers’ Market Future
* Recommendations & Plans for Ford Field Renovations
* Sustainability Actions
* Hours of Grant Writing and Application Submissions
* Integrated Parks & Recreation Activities.

New Activities and Future Development
* OUR DOWNTOWN – Seasonal street closures for Downtown go into effect this year, expansion of our Social District now includes new businesses, rooftop dining available at the Exchange (a top-ranked spot in the Metro), Great White Buffalo Brewing Company now open on Main and Center, and multiple new building projects in the Downtown Business District.
* FOUNDRY FLASK – the Preliminary Site Plan for Foundry Flask’s 80 luxury apartments (South Main Street) was approved by the Planning Commission (originally the site of one of Michigan’s oldest foundries).
* THE DOWNS – Northville Downs Development has Preliminary Site Plan approval of an integrated mixed-used development that includes parks and greenspaces covering 34% of the total planned area.

City Initiatives
* Riverwalk & Rouge River Restoration – Northville’s mobility pathway systems are one of the last connectors in the State’s integrated walkway network connecting south to Ohio and north to Mackinaw (interlinking City, Township, County & State Parks).
* Farmers’ Market Activity – A Farmers’ Market task force is looking at future options, attempting to create an all-new community event site through a partnership between the City & Township, along with the Northville Chamber of Commerce. Working together, we will create a dynamic and fun “Market Commons” that includes learning and cultural activities with the goal of securing both private and civic partnerships.
* Ford Field Initiative – Rejuvenating our outstanding Ford Field greenspace into a true “Central Park,” with an accessible entryway, enhanced facilities, updated and expanded recreational offerings, and a gateway to the Community’s Riverwalk.

The Northville TEAM (Township, Schools and City), working together, are building a Way Forward Plan, providing pathways for the future, connecting all in the community.

Keep that Northville Community Faith!
