Brothers, sisters and siblings,
Today, the sweeping anti-worker bill, HB 2127 by Rep. Burrows, was passed in the House. Before the debate began yesterday, workers gathered outside of the House chamber to make sure our legislators could see the people who are most impacted by their vote.
Our allies in the House also showed up in full force to fight for the workers of Texas during the debate.

The legislators who voted to pass this bill voted to eliminate existing local ordinances that protect workers against wage theft and workplace discrimination. They voted to end life saving rest breaks for construction workers.
As if that isn’t bad enough, this bill will open the flood gates of expensive and wasteful litigation on cities, counties, and the hardworking Texans that live in every community across the state.
The workers of Texas deserve better. Our fight against HB 2127 is far from over. Look out for our next steps in fighting this bill and protecting the workers of Texas.
In Solidarity,
Texas AFL-CIO
