Democracy prevailed, John.

Earlier this month, two young Black Democratic Tennessee state representatives were undemocratically expelled from their legislature. Thankfully, Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson were both reinstated to their seats until their special elections can be held.

John, from running for office to resolve constitutional violations against African-American inmates to participating in Martin Luther King, Jr.’s demonstrations, I’ve experienced firsthand the fight for democracy and the fight against discrimination. And it’s clear that even in 2023, we must continue those fights.

The removal of these two young Black Democratic Tennessee state lawmakers was an attack to silence not just their voices, but the voices of their communities, the voices of the voters who elected them. It was an attempt to hold us back from making much needed change.

I need your support, John, now more than ever, to protect our democracy and amplify the voices of Black leaders, voters, and communities. Can you chip in $10 now to send a message that we’re not going anywhere and we’re going to continue fighting for change?
