We just made history, John.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer just signed a transformative gun safety package into law — a HUGE victory for our movement that will save lives.
March For Our Lives has been there every step of the way, pushing for this legislation after three young people’s lives were taken in a campus shooting at Michigan State University. Together, we rallied at the state capitol last month in Lansing, MI, to speak out against the deadly impact gun violence has on our communities.
Now, we've passed the first gun safety legislation in Michigan in over FOUR DECADES. None of this would've been possible without our organizing, or without young people’s record breaking turnout last fall that flipped the Michigan Legislature to a gun safety majority for the first time.
A few highlights of this lifesaving package include:
✔️ An extreme risk protection order bill
✔️ Safe storage requirements
✔️ Tighter background checks
✔️ Closing loopholes in the law
✔️ And so much more
I was honored to be invited to the signing ceremony and stand alongside MSU students, activists, and parents from across Michigan to witness this incredible moment.
The gun lobby tried its hardest to stop this bill in its tracks. But thanks to your support, we raised hell and took action to push this bill over the finish line.
Thank you SO much for helping us make it happen.
In solidarity,
David Hogg
