We Can't Let the GOP Silence Them.

Friend,

?

As you may have heard, on Thursday the Republican-controlled Tennessee House of Representatives voted to expel two courageous young Democrats - Rep. Justin Jones and Rep. Justin Pearson - who stood side-by-side with students demanding action on gun violence just days after the terrible school shooting in Nashville.

?

Even more infuriating, while the Republican legislature expelled Jones and Pearson, both of whom are black, they did not expel Gloria Johnson, their white colleague who joined them in their anti-gun violence protest.

This is a blatant attempt to silence those speaking out against the extreme GOP agenda, which continues to put the worship of guns over the lives of Tennessee students and families. This is bigger than partisan politics; it's a direct threat to our democracy.

?

What kind of a democracy allows? one party to simply oust members of the other if they disagree? What's happening in Tennessee is so fundamentally undemocratic and betrays the very spirit on which our country was founded.

Rep. Jones and Rep. Pearson may have been expelled, but they're not giving up the fight. And we won't let them fight alone. I'm asking you to join me in supporting their reelection campaigns by making a donation here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/dlcc-jones-pearson

Your contribution will send a powerful message that democracy won't be silenced. Together, we'll stand up to the MAGA extremism that does not believe in hearing dissenting views, does not believe in the rule of law, and does not believe in fair and free elections.

?

Thank you for your support and for standing with the #TennesseeThree.

?

In solidarity,

?

Andrew
