Dear John,
It's officially Zoo Awareness Weekend! This special event is dedicated to raising awareness on how animals suffer in captivity, on what is typically the busiest time of the year for zoos - Easter Weekend. With your help we can spread the word on the truth behind zoos, and make a difference for animals!
So many of our wonderful supporters and animal rights groups are planning on hitting the streets to hold protests and information stalls across the UK this weekend, so there is most likely an event near you! But if not, why not get involved and hold your own event in the name of animals!
Here are some of the events taking place this weekend, from Saturday 8th April:
Newcastle City Centre - Saturday 8th April 2023 ([link removed])
Brighton Sealife Centre - Saturday 8th April 2023 ([link removed])
South Lakes Zoo - Sunday 9th April 2023 ([link removed])
Knowsley Zoo - Monday 10th April 2023

Zoo Awareness Weekend aims to shine a light on the plight of the individual animals involved.
There are so many ways to get involved and help animals, even if you are unable to attend an in-person event. We have a number of live actions available on our website, including:
* 'No More Zoo Secrets' launch ([link removed]) - Join us in demanding transparency from the zoo and aquarium industry that holds thousands of animals captive across the UK.
* South Lakes Zoo Petition ([link removed]) - Sign our new live petition and join us in demanding Barrow-in-Furness Council revokes the zoo's licence and forces its closure.
* Petition to stop the new zoo in Trowell ([link removed]) - Sign our petition to ensure Broxtowe Council rejects the cruel plans.
* Online Safety Bill action ([link removed]) - Take action to help include animals on the Online Safety Bill.
Please help animals by clicking the above links and taking action ([link removed]) today!
TAKE ACTION FOR ANIMALS! ([link removed])
Donations are also a vital lifeline for us to continue to the work we do for animals. By giving a gift this Zoo Awareness Weekend, you will play a big part in our future investigations, by helping us to keep our investigators out in the field gathering evidence of animal suffering and neglect.
You can find out more on the investigations we carry out for animals, and how you can support future investigations, in our new blog -'An Investigator's Insight into Sealife London Aquarium'. ([link removed])
Investigations have a huge impact on the lives of the animals held captive, and they would not be possible without your support. Any donation you can give today, will go towards the fight for animal freedom. Thank you.

And finally, to highlight how many incredibly fun experiences there are now available to the public, which don't involved the exploitation of animals, we have published two new blogs which focus on experiencing the joy of nature and wonder of animals compassionately.
Our new blog 'Easter Days Out' ([link removed]) , lists some great family-friendly, animal-free alternatives to visit instead of going to a zoo or aquarium.
And in our new guest blog ([link removed]) , written by scuba diver Lucy Murphy, a new perspective is given on the best way to view marine life - in the wild!

Thank you for your support in the continued fight for animal freedom. With your help we can raise awareness on the terrible suffering zoos and aquariums cause, and stand up for the animals imprisoned in them. See you on the streets!
