We hope you are having a reflective and peaceful Ramadan. The Emgage team has been keeping active with numerous events and outreach engagements. We look forward to sharing our updates with you throughout this blessed and holy month. 

 

Here are some recent highlights from Emgage:

  • We kicked off National Arab American Heritage Month by highlighting our Arab American staffers, Board members, and volunteers. We join organizations nationwide to honor the achievements, culture, and heritage of the Arab American community.
  • We are pleased to announce that we are a 2023 Pillars Fund Catalyze grantee partner! 
  • Emgage Texas' team attended Rep. Lalani’s Iftar at the state capitol.
  • Emgage Florida attended Tampa Mayor Jane Castor’s Iftar; City Hall and Tampa’s downtown bridges were also lit green in honor of Ramadan.
  • Pennsylvania Executive Director Salima Suswell emceed the Philadelphia Iftar at City Hall. The event was a powerful gathering of the city's Muslims and a great opportunity to gather and celebrate.
  • NY Governor Kathy Hochul issued a proclamation to Emgage New York Metro recognizing the month of Ramadan for all Muslim New Yorkers.
  • We wrapped up Women’s History Month with a celebration of the powerful women that make this work possible.

Congratulations to Mazen Basrawi, who has been named Senior Advisor and Liaison to Muslim Communities in the Office of Public Engagement at the White House! This appointment was one of the top asks to the Biden-Harris administration by the American Muslim Community Coalition, of which Emgage was a founding member. Emgage is proud to have been involved in this appointment and we look forward to working with Basrawi. Learn more about Basrawi here.

  • April 9: Annual Emgage Houston Ramadan Benefit Gala to reflect on 2022 successes and share 2023 goals. Rep. Rashida Tlaib will be our keynote speaker, and Preacher Moss has been announced as the event emcee!
