Hate has no Home Here. None at all.
* On April 1st a neo-Nazi group came to Portland to advance an agenda of hate and bigotry.
* I reject vehemently any and all words, rhetoric, and actions that advance hate, bigotry, anti-semitism, anti-LGBTQ+.
* Portland has no place for hate; we are an accepting, peaceful community that values diversity and humanity.
* At our upcoming Council Meeting (4/10) a Communication will be presented from City Management and the Portland Police Department so that we can learn more about what happened, and so that we can ask questions. Agenda and Zoom Link here ([link removed])

The City Manager Search Process is well underway:
* After a lot of committee work, a community survey that yielded 720 responses, and two community listening sessions, we are now poised to meet the Finalist Candidates on April 14th and 15th (that's next week!)
* Please take advantage of the Community Meet & Greet on Friday, April 14th from 6-7:30pm in the State of Maine Room at City Hall. This will be a chance to hear from the candidates, meet, greet - and offer your feedback via a survey tool.
* City Council members will meet one on one with candidates on Friday - and as a body on Saturday. City Staff will also be engaged in the work - by providing driving tours of our city on Friday morning, meeting candidates during a staff-only Coffee + Cookies reception, and engaging via staff panels on Saturday.
* This has been a long process - and we look to take Council action on an appointment at one of our May meetings.
* Please join as able, your voice is important.

Very Sincerely,
Kate Snyder

PS - I'll hold my April Mayor Zoom on Wednesday, April 26th at 4:00pm on Zoom. Please join me for an informal chance to discuss matters on your mind, ask questions, share info, and hear from your neighbors.
