While the infant mortality rate has improved in recent years, the United States still barely ranks in the middle of other industrialized nations. For Black mothers, the numbers are even more grim.
Access to quality, affordable health care must be a right and not a privilege reserved only for those who can afford it.
Too often, Virginians do not receive the care they need because going to the doctor or filling a critical prescription means that they cannot afford the rent or pay for groceries to feed their family.
No one should have to choose between food, housing, and life-saving medications. Healthy families lead to healthy communities and a thriving workforce. Healthy children are able to attend school and succeed academically.
Access to health care ensures that we protect one another from catastrophic medical debt. With affordable access, Virginians benefit from the preventive care that helps people to stay well, function better, and reduce costly burdens on our healthcare systems.
As your State Senator that’s my goal. I want to ensure access to affordable, quality health care, including preventive care, mental health services, and prescription drugs for all Virginians. And I will continue fighting to make this a reality.
But I need your help. I have been redistricted into a new district in which the majority of the voters are new to me. They don’t know me or my record. So, I have to introduce myself. I’m already going door to door, but I’m going to need resources.
I need campaign literature and signs. I need to send out mailers and get on the radio.
