Dear John,

Today, Rep. Tricia Cotham officially announced that she is switching parties. While we chose not to endorse Cotham in her last election, we are deeply disappointed in her decision to join the extremists in the NCGOP and betray her constituents who voted overwhelmingly for a Democrat to represent them.

We join other groups calling for her immediate resignation.

Together with our supporters, we have fought to protect abortion access in NC by working to elect our Featured Candidates, who are true champions of reproductive rights. That fight continues, and we look forward to supporting a truly progressive, pro-choice woman running in this seat in the near future.

Cotham's betrayal gives Republicans a supermajority in both the NC House and Senate, potentially allowing for overrides of Gov. Cooper's vetoes. We are in the fight of our lives to protect abortion access in NC, but we aren't backing down anytime soon. Thank you for being in this fight with us.
