Forests cleanse a quarter of all climate-busting carbon pollution from the air, and they currently store more carbon than all of the readily exploitable fossil fuel reserves.

But over the last decade we've seen staggering losses for the world's forests. As huge swaths of the irreplaceable Amazon rainforest burned to ash last summer, logging companies continued to clear-cut millions of acres in Canada's boreal forest.

It's one of the countless reasons NRDC is developing our 2020 Climate Action Plan — an unprecedented initiative to push for powerful, climate-saving policies, including saving our climate-critical forests. But to put this groundbreaking plan into action, we need your help.

Despite heartbreaking recent setbacks, healthy carbon-absorbing forests remain one of the most vital resources we have in the fight against climate change.

• Campaigning on the frontlines to protect Canada's boreal forest from clear-cut logging and the extraction of dirty tar sands oil. If you donate to NRDC you'll do twice as much to help power efforts like our campaign to stop Procter & Gamble from destroying the boreal forest to produce toilet paper.
• Gearing up for a courtroom battle to block Trump from throwing open 9.5 million acres of Alaska's Tongass National Forest to logging and other destruction. We have a 92 percent win rate in all cases resolved against the administration — and those victories were powered by supporters like you. Double your impact today.
• Working to advance a visionary plan to protect 30 percent of the world's land and 30 percent of its oceans by 2030. This effort would give countless imperiled species a fighting chance for survival in the face of climate change. Today you can do twice as much to help make it happen.
