I wish this was an April Fool’s Day joke, but instead it’s an outrage. In the midst of children unintentionally killing other children, like the three year old who shot and killed her four year old sister, [1] a gun trade show hosted a firearm manufacturer promoting its “JR-15,” a child-size AR-15 rifle. [2] Yes, you read that right.

Gun manufacturers have stooped to a new low in an effort to push a deadly, extremist pro-gun agenda.

The same firearm manufacturers who are pushing this dystopian and deadly marketing to kids are also funding extreme pro-gun special interests who donate to and lobby elected officials, distort our legislative process, and block gun safety action. We need your support to push back.

AR-15s or similar rifles were the primary weapons used in some of the deadliest mass shootings in recent American history, including at schools: the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, and the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting — not to mention the mass shooting at Nashville's Covenant School this past week that killed three children and three staff members.

It's the latest in the gun industry's callous and greedy marketing campaign to flood American communities with AR-15's, the inventor of which openly stated his intent to only use these weapons of war for military purposes. [3]

We are outraged by the firearm industry now recklessly marketing weapons of war to our children. The gun lobby and the elected officials who are in their pocket must be held accountable.
