Dear?Friend,?
Have you ever wondered what it would be like
to bring the summer indoors? Well, the National Building Museum's latest exhibit, Lawn,
does just that. And even better, you're invited to explore it
with me for free?next Tuesday, August 6, from
9:00-11:00am!
Thanks to the Council's annual Ward
Day partnership, admission is free for District residents with a
valid ID. The remaining Ward Day schedule is below:
- August 6 from 9:00-11:00am: Ward 3 and Ward 4
- August 13 from 9:00-11:00am:?Ward 1 and Ward 5
If your scheduled Ward Day has already passed and you plan to join
me on Tuesday, RSVP
here.
Lawn?features a huge green space for lawn
games,?interactive hammocks suspended from the ceiling, and
audio from prominent American storytellers sharing summertime
memories. Plus, the Building Museum partnered this year with the LAB
at Rockwell Group to bring an augmented reality game that will let you
chase and catch fireflies!?
Can't make it to a Ward Day? Every Thursday in August, the
Building Museum will feature a free movie screening open to the
public. You can see the full schedule of upcoming
Lawn events here.
If you're traveling by Metro, Judiciary Square (Red Line) is
across from the Building Museum and Gallery Place (Yellow/Green Line)
is just down the street. Three Metrobus routes also have stops nearby:
D6, 80, and X2. Capital Bikeshare is always an options too, with
several docking stations in the area.
See what else you can expect at the exhibit here,?and
I hope to see you there!
Elissa.
